Demonstrating an on-going commitment to training future generations of doctors and surgeons, Justin is a Fellow and Director of Clinical Studies at Downing College and an Affiliated Associate Professor at the University of Cambridge. He is Co-Editor of the surgical textbook “Ellis and Calne’s Lecture Notes in General Surgery, 14th Edition”, published in 2023.
He is an Educational and Clinical Supervisor for surgical trainees, He is a previous Chair of Education and Training for the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland and is the senior author for their 2025 Position Statement for training in robotic surgery in the UK and Ireland. In addition, he has served as Programme Chair for the Alpine Colorectal Meeting and as a Programme Director for Core Surgical Training. He is an examiner for medical student finals at the University of Cambridge.
